- Development of customer-specific functions, such as vehicle data visualization
- Building demonstrators/prototypes and setting up small batch production
- Integration in customer vehicles (dashboard/interior design, control concept)
- Software and systems development
- Integration and system testing
- Environmental testing and certification
Tried-and-tested Bosch components like the head unit and digital instrument cluster are ready and available for implementing your custom infotainment and HMI concepts.
Head unit
The head unit acts as the central user interface in the vehicle. Many applications can be operated using this central infotainment control unit. These include media sources, like the radio tuner, as well as displays that provide information relating to the latest traffic data, air conditioning control system, or driving modes, to name but a few.
Bosch Engineering will be delighted to support you with the following aspects of your head unit implementation:
- Integration in your vehicle (HMI, mechanics, vehicle interfaces)
- Smartphone integration (Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, the OEM-specific solution mySPIN from Bosch)
Digital instrument cluster
The instrument cluster provides the classic speedometer displays, function displays, route guidance symbols, and much more. The user interface (HMI) can be personalized and easily customized to suit your brand and different vehicle models thanks to its versatile core design. The various instrument displays can be adapted dynamically to the current driving situation and according to personal preferences, ensuring the driver always has a good view of the information needed. It is also possible to integrate new displays or new functions (e.g. multimedia, Bluetooth hands-free system, and media streaming) according to the driving mode and accompanying preferred design. But instrument clusters do not only offer wide-ranging entertainment and information options – their integration in the vehicle additionally results in savings in terms of weight and installation space.
Body electronics
Body computer modules and central gateways pave the way for innovative E/E architectures and ensure effective cybersecurity measures can be implemented in connected and automated vehicles. As a central control unit for body electronics, the body computer module provides an integration platform for internal/external lighting applications, access/lock functionalities, and enhanced diagnostic functions. The gateway acts as a central communications hub in the vehicle and is therefore the ideal place for the cross-domain integration of different vehicle functions and IoT services covering all aspects of the vehicle.
State-of-the-art E/E architectures can be implemented and validated cost-effectively, quickly, and flexibly on the basis of existing Bosch hardware components and customer-independent software solutions. As your development partner, Bosch Engineering offers a deep understanding of vehicle systems as well as extensive expertise in body electronics integration, the development of state-of-the-art internal and external vehicular communication solutions, and their associated validation.
Body computer module
The body computer module (BCM) acts as a domain control unit for body electronics functions. It monitors and controls, for example, the external and internal lighting, windshield wipers, air conditioning, access control systems, heating functions, and parking assistance systems. A high-performance, customer-independent hardware and software platform for the body computer provides the basis for highly efficient and flexible development. Our portfolio of services includes the following:
- Highly competent systems engineering partner: assistance with system design from the initial concept development phase to readying your product for volume production
- Flexible and full-featured base and application software: customer-specific integration and configuration of the core functionalities, e.g.:
- Interior and external lighting, vehicle access and central locking, windshield wipers and cleaning, seat heating, energy management
- Gateway functionality, theft protection, etc.
- Custom solutions: development, integration, and testing of customer-specific functions
Central gateway
The central gateway is the central communications hub for all bus systems in the vehicle. It acts as the data distributor for communication within the vehicle as well as between the vehicle and the outside world via a communications interface. It supports various bus systems (Ethernet, CAN, LIN). A high-performance, customer-independent gateway hardware and software platform provides the basis for highly efficient and flexible development.
Bosch Engineering offers the following related services:
- Assistance with system design, from the initial concept development phase to readying your product for volume production
- Flexible and full-featured base and application software: customer-specific integration and configuration of the core functionalities, e.g. data exchange using routing tables, data security (firewall, hardware security module, intrusion detection), cross-domain vehicle functions and IoT services, connection to diagnostic testers
- Custom solutions: development, integration, and testing of customer-specific functions
- Optimization of the gateway software in terms of short latencies and high data throughput
- Training and consulting for all topics of relevance to gateways, e.g. bus systems, base software, and communication protection
Actuators and sensors
We offer component-related development services with a focus on actuators and sensors at all stages of the engineering process – from the design study to volume production. In this context, we develop and apply Bosch components in wiper systems, transmission actuators, and motion and position sensors.
Vehicle localization using the motion and position sensor
In addition to satellite navigation like the GNSS system, motion and position sensors ensure continuous and highly accurate localization. This is essential particularly in the area of automated driving. These kinds of sensors also provide the foundations for assistance systems. Our services in this area include the custom application of innovative Bosch components and vehicle integration for your particular use case.
Wiper systems
A clear view in all weather conditions and driving situations is an important safety aspect and is governed by legal requirements. The diverse windshield geometries and differences in the amount of installation space available in vehicles necessitate a customized and optimized design and configuration of the wiper system as a whole. This is, of course, also an absolute must in high-performance vehicles that have special requirements with regard to driving at higher speeds. We will be delighted to help you with the development of your wiper system.
ECA applications in the powertrain (electronic compact actuator)
Electronic compact actuators are mainly used for powertrain and chassis applications. In such applications, the motor can be used as a highly dynamic actuator, e.g. for transmission actuating functions. Bosch Engineering offers you custom development and application of the components tailored to your specific use cases.
